Elevator Pitch No. 1

Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

Who: For this assignment, I interviewed five dog owners because those are the people I would believe to have the need of a place to take their dog in bad weather instead of a dog park. There was a very clear theme between the people I interviewed. Each of them owned at least one dog but did not ever take them to a dog park, therefore they did not face the issue of not having somewhere to take their dog in bad weather. They had various answers as to why they didn't take their dogs to a dog park. Two individuals said the reason they don't take their dogs to a dog park is because their dogs don't get along with other dogs. Another two said their dogs don't have enough energy to need to go to a dog park. The other interviewee stated that they just don't have time to take their dog to a dog park.

What: My need only becomes a need when bad weather occurs. When the weather is nice, people have more options like going to outdoor dog parks. Therefore, I will face more competition when the weather is

Why: The underlying need for those in my boundary is the need for a dog park rather than just owning a dog. Therefore, those outside my boundary are lacking the need to take their dog to a dog park for any one of the reasons I stated in the "who" section of this assignment.

Inside the Boundary                 Outside the Boundary
People with dogs who take their dogs to     a dog park.  People who do not have dogs or do not     take their dogs to a dog park.
A place to take their dog instead of a dog   park when the weather is bad.  A place that every single dog owner will    utilize.
Dog parks are outdoors and therefore         cannot be used in bad weather.   They don't have a dog to take to a dog       park or they choose not to take their         dog to a dog park.

My Solution!

I have thought long and hard about this opportunity since it is a constant issue in my own life and I have finally come up with an idea. To recap, my issue lies when it is raining when I want to take my puppy to the dog park. When it's raining, I can't take him for fear of him getting gross or even sick, so I always opt to just stay home. Well, my idea involves creating an indoor dog park! It would have all the great aspects of outdoor parks including, large open areas to run around, separated areas for smaller dogs, splash zones for water-loving dogs, and even fun obstacles for the dogs to play on but the best part... it would be inside! That way, no matter the weather outside, whether it's raining, snowing, a hundred degrees, or zero degrees, the dogs can play in total happiness and their owners can observe and enjoy in comfort.
